"Opening the Door to Your Future"
Open Doors Academy is an alternative education program in the Stanley-Boyd School District for at-risk students. It is available to select struggling students in grades 8-12 who wish to pursue their education in an alternative setting.
The teacher possesses an alternative education certification and facilitates the needs of the Open Doors Academy students, in coordination with administration, the guidance counselor, special services, and through community support in numerous ways. Each student has an Open Doors Academic Plan (ODAP) that is developed to meet his or her needs. The student, parent/guardian, teacher, and guidance counselor meet on a regular basis to review and modify this educational plan as needed.
The mission of Open Doors Academy is to empower at-risk students to work on a self-paced curriculum and earn credits or pass the GED assessments in a competency-based program rather than a traditional semester system. Students may work toward completion of their high school diploma or use the Open Doors Academy to catch up to their peers and return to regular school. The Open Doors Academy is an off-campus alternative education program.
