The middle school at Stanley-Boyd consists of approximately 235 students in grades 6-8. We believe that all students can learn at a high level. Professional development opportunities, updating curriculum to meet state and national standards, and the development of student learning communities are an integral part of this belief.
Students learn at a high level at Stanley-Boyd through the implementation of the no-zero policy, intervention and enrichment time, target time and resource. We do all we can to ensure our students learn the content being taught. If students are behind in coursework, or just need extra assistance, we offer an academic late bus to enable those students to work with staff until 4:30 every week day.
Throughout the school year, students participate in physical education classes and a variety of exploratory offerings including: agriculture, technology education, computer education, family and consumer education, Spanish, art, choir, band, and character education.
In addition to a strong academic curriculum, students have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of extra curricular activities including Science Olympiad, student lighthouse team, FFA, and forensics. Team sports include cross country, volleyball, football, wrestling, boys' and girls' basketball, and track and field. During the summer months golf, baseball, and softball are offered in the community.
Since 2019, we have been a Leader-in-Me school. We have time built into our schedule four days per week to promote and discuss social-emotional learning. The lessons focus on Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective People: Be Proactive, Begin With the End in Mind, Put First Things First, Think Win-Win, Seek First to Understand, Synergize, and Sharpen the Saw. Leader-in-Me is an evidence-based, comprehensive model that develops leadership and life skills in students, creates a high-trust school culture, and lays the foundation for high academic and relational achievement.
